Booked My Flight! Vancouver, Canada to Aberdeen, Scotland

03/17/2008 - 22:26

...and that makes it official. I just booked flights that'll get me to Scotland in early June. The journey starts in the North East of the United Kingdom! The first flight with flyglobespan will get me as far as Manchester and then I'm getting on a BMI plane to Aberdeen. So exciting!

The flight was found using skyscanner, a website which finds the best deals by searching the schedules of a bunch of airlines. I just heard about them in my German language class a few hours ago and I've got to say, it's a great website with a decent UI and what I'd consider to be fair warning about the risks involved... but I won't know for sure until I've made the trip!

I read reviews on all the discount fliers who could get me to Aberdeen and the gist of it was, people have had terrible experiences with each of them. However, the flight I booked is just over $500 CAD and comparing that to the 'regular' airlines I'm saving about a thousand bucks. I'd gladly take seventeen hours of discomfort and an increased probability of losing my luggage if it's going to save me that much!

Haha, well, there's the last gig at Myles of Beans on May 31st but we'll have a proper celebration mid-May I suspect...

wow, by the way, thanks for linking to Skyscanner. I just booked a flight for my mom to San Fran that was way cheaper than what I was able to find through Kayak or any other site!
